Vitamin C Our Best Natural Protection From Disease

This is not to say that it can stand alone in accomplishing the goal of good health by disease prevention. Optimal health is in reality a complex synergy between macro-minerals, trace minerals, vitamins, proper diet, and adequate exercise. But Vitamin C has no equal as the first nutritional line of defense against colds, viruses, pneumonia, as well as diseases caused by inflammation and out of control and improper cell division. The undeniable fact is Vitamin C [is] our best natural protection from disease and is more potent than any drug.

The catch is that we People do not produce Vitamin C within our own bodies and must therefore consume it in our diets. On-the-other-hand, almost all animals actually do produce this disease preventing vitamin within their bodies. The few animal exceptions include apes, guinea pigs, fruit bats, and a few varieties of fish and birds. This is why we seldom if ever see our pets and other animals with colds and viruses even though they are living outside in all kinds of weather conditions. This should tell us something, especially if we and our children seem to be catching and then spreading everything that comes along.

One of the biggest misrepresentations (L-I-E is a more accurate word) made about vitamins by mainstream “drug-care” doctors is that an RDA (Recommended Daily Allowance) of 60 mg of Vitamin C is an adequate amount. This is simply another downplaying of the importance of minerals and vitamins by setting RDAs that are so low as to be minimally effective. The truth is that 60 mg daily of Vitamin C is barely enough to prevent Scurvy, amounting to less than ½ mg per 1 lb of body weight. As an animal comparison, goats produce Vitamin C levels in the area of 100 mg per 1 lb of body weight. I believe most doctors know better, but had rather have us coming to them for drugs and spending a hundred bucks or more every time we get the sniffles. Additionally, if they started prescribing Vitamin C rather than anti-biotics and other drugs, not only would their pocketbooks take a hit, they would risk losing their medical “license” for not following what is called “the SOC (Standard of Care)”. It really should be called “the drug standard of care”.

Dr Linus Pauling (two time Nobel Prize winner) concluded from his research that the minimal level of Vitamin C required by People to maintain a robust immune system to be at least 14 mg daily per 1 lb of body weight. That would be about 2,000 mg daily for a 150 lb person. He believed that therapeutic levels of up to 120 mg daily per lb of body weight, which would be about 18,000 mg daily for a 150 lb person, if dealing with health issues. Note: It is possible to consume adequate amounts of Vitamin C if one eats a lot of fruits and vegetables, such as Peppers, Kale, Broccoli, Brussels Sprouts, Papaya, Strawberries, Pineapple, Kiwi, and of course Oranges which contain from 70-185 mg of Vitamin C. In that it is not always possible for most to consume enough in their diets, there are many very good Vitamin C supplements available. Powder, capsule, tablet and chewable forms of Ascorbic Acid are very effective, but Sodium Ascorbate in Liposomal forms may more readily absorbable for therapeutic situations. Until one can determine what is required to maintain good Vitamin C levels in you and your children’s bodies, Vitamin C test strips are also available to monitor levels on a daily basis.

Finally, I suggest that every family who seeks to boost their families resistance to nagging health issues should have copies of Dr Thomas E. Levy’s comprehensive book on Vitamin C entitled, “Curing The Incurable” and Linus Pauling’s “Vitamin C, the Common Cold, and the Flu”. You will find that both of these great men of health have been repeatedly and systematically trashed and denigrated by mainstream medicine, the pharmaceutical industry, and their governmental agency partners-in-crime. It is important that we all start researching and thinking for ourselves as to what is best to keep ourselves and our families in optimal health. Remember this simple fact, “We were created from the dust/minerals of the Earth, not from the drugs of a laboratory.”
