Jan. 25, 2018; by Briana McDonald-Staff Writer ( In the course of just one week the number of flu related deaths in Texas alone has more than doubled. There have been 1,155 flu related deaths in Texas from October 1st to January 10th. (1) In just one week that number skyrocketed to 2355, half of those people being 65 or older. If the flu should come knocking at your door, like it has a lot of people in the United States, you want to have an arsenal of remedies to get you back on your feet. There are natural remedies for influenza that are low cost and usually highly effective, let’s take a look.

What is Influenza?

 The influenza virus is a very contagious respiratory illness that is spread through the air from person to person. Signs of the illness include:
  • fever
  • coughing
  • running nose
  • headaches
  • muscle aches
  • vomiting
  • fatigue
  • upset stomach

Modern Treatments

This is a subject I will touch very briefly on but as you may know from other articles I’ve written I do not believe that vaccination is immunization. Obviously if we look at the numbers of how many people are getting the flu even after they have been vaccinated– obviously it isn’t doing its job. These vaccines contain dangerous chemicals and preservatives and can even cause severe allergic reactions, they are not worth the risk. They also do the opposite of boosting the immune system which is exactly what you want to focus on in preventing and healing from the virus.

Build a Stronger Immune System

If you want 100% immunity from influenza look no further than the intelligently designed immune system. That’s right, your own body knows how to fight off and heal from all bacterium, viruses and fungi, it just needs a little nourishment and nurturing.The three factors to build a stronger immune system are:

  1. Proper nutrition and clean water free of fluoride and chlorine
  2. Regular Exercise
  3. Rest and Stress Management

It’s important that we focus on these three things each and every day to be the healthiest and happiest version of ourselves.

Natural Remedies List For Influenza:

If you already have the flu or know someone who does, there are some natural remedies that will boost your immunity and get you back on two feet.

1. Vitamin C- (1,000mg 3-4 times per day)

According to Dr. Thomas Levy in his research into Vitamin C states: “In addition to its role as the premier antioxidant circulating throughout the body, the scientific literature has clearly established Vitamin C to directly promote and stimulate a number of very important functions of the immune system. These functions include the following:

  • Enhanced antibody production (B-lymphocytes, humoral immunity);
  • Enhanced interferon production;
  • Enhanced phagocytic (scavenger cell) function;
  • Enhanced T-lymphocyte function (cell-mediated immunity);
  • Enhanced B-lymphocyte and T-lymphocyte proliferation;
  • Enhanced natural killer cell activity (very important anti-cancer function);
  • Enhanced prostaglandin formation;
  • Enhanced nitric oxide production by phagocytes.(2)

2. Vitamin D (2,000 IU Daily)

Vitamin D is a fat-soluble vitamin which enables proper and solid bones growth and development. Vitamin D is a very critical piece of the human blueprint and the lack of this nutrient can cause an onset of serious health issues. Vitamin D is responsible for strengthening the immune system and it also reduces the odds for cancer. This overlooked nutrient is essential alongside other vitamins and minerals the body needs for health and longevity. Not only does vitamin D help to prevent diseases but it also neutralizes any symptoms as well. (3)

3. Advanced Colloidal Silver (Take as Directed on Label 3-4 times per day for therapeutic use)

Colloidal Silver is not only an antibiotic, but also an antiviral, anti-fungal, and anti-microbial as well. It will kill any single cell organism on contact. Period. Silver interrupts the bacteria cell’s ability to form the chemical bonds essential to it’s survival. These bonds produce the cells physical structure so when bacteria meets silver it literally falls apart. “The bactericidal happens by oxidizing the anaerobic pathogenic bacteria. They die within short periods mentioned above and don’t hang around long enough to figure out what happened and how to resist the silver. The silver ions act as catalysts to oxidize the bacteria, then continues to hunt down more.”

This is why for instance silver bandages are in such high demand right now. They not only kill any bacteria present but prevent more from growing and increase healing time making them extremely valuable to burn and wound victims. Silver has also been proven to promote the growth of new cells which is another reason wounds heal much quicker with Silver present and unlike other metals with antimicrobial properties, it is not toxic for humans. 4. Bone Broth (Drink as much as you like!)

Chicken soup isn’t just good for the soul, in fact there are sound scientific reasons why your mother makes you eat chicken soup when your sick and that’s due to the significant amount of nutrients that are bio available in homemade bone broths and soups. Bone broth is loaded with healing nutrients such as key amino acids that aid in the health of our gut and boost immunity, bone marrow which has always been prized as sacred, energizing and a regenerative food by our ancestors, cartilage and also collagen which supports the skin and internal organs, helps skin retain its youthful firmness, suppleness, and elasticity and builds a barrier that prevents the absorption and spread of pathogenic substances, environmental toxins, microorganisms, and cancerous cells. 5. Probiotics (take as directed on label)
Restoring the helpful bacteria in your gut will considerably boost your immune system making it easier to fight off infections.
6. Zinc (50-100mg per day)
Zinc works to support the immune system and has a potent antiviral effect. It works best when taken at the first sign of illness. Zinc may lessen the symptoms of the cold virus but it is not good to take zinc in large amounts, taking just 50-100mg per day can ward off or treat cold and flu symptoms. (6)
