It can make your toenail change in color and get thicker over time and can even cause pain. Different types of fungi and sometimes yeast can affect different parts of the nail and left untreated can spread to other toenails, skin, or even your fingernails. The good news is you can effectively fight toenail fungus naturally with natural remedies and diligence without having to undergo a surgery to have the nail removed.

What Causes Toenail Fungus?
Some things help the fungus to grow such as:
  • high acid levels in skin
  • a weak immune system
  • feet that are always in wet areas like sweaty shoes and socks
  • bad washing habits
  • diabetes
Over time the fungus can cause the toenails to crack, split and eventually cause total loss of the toenail. Here are some things you can do to heal toenail fungus naturally and eliminate toenail fungus for good in as little as 1 to 2 months. Some cases could take longer to heal than others so diligence here is key. Minor and singular fungal infections could take just a couple of weeks to heal while more severe cases can take several months.

Natural Remedies for Toenail Fungus
  1. Dr. Ken’s Toenail Fungus Fighter: Dr Kens Toenail Fungus Fighter is a Solution of Pharmaceutical grade Vitamin C, colloidal silver and Dimethyl Sulfoxide. It destroys most epidermal and nail fungus on contact and aids in eliminating toenail fungal growth by penetrating into the fungal root-base and killing the infestation. It can also be very effective on fingernails that have become infected with Psoriasis or fungus. It has also been used topically in combination with Psoriasis and Eczema skin creams. Use 1-2 drops of Dr. Ken’s Toenail Fungus Fighter per toenail 2-3 times daily. As the fungus dies it will turn brown or black and slowly disappear as the toenail grows back out. Continue with 1 drop per toenail daily as new nails grow. To inhibit new fungal growth if it has been a reoccurring issue, keep nails trimmed short and use 1 drop of Dr. Ken’s Toenail Fungus Fighter per toe nail 1-3 times per week.
  2. Apple Cider Vinegar: because ACV has acid, it can help block the fungus from spreading while killing off present bacteria and fungi. Mix the same amounts of ACV and water and soak your toenail in the mixture for 30 minutes a day. When the 30 minutes is up, be sure to dry the toenail very well. Do this every day for a few weeks for fast healing.
  3. Tea Tree Oil: tea tree oil fights germs and fungi which helps when treating toenail fungus. Tea tree oil is also used to treat other types of skin infections. Simply mix a few drops of tea tree oil with coconut oil or olive oil and use a cotton ball to apply the mixture to your toenail. Leave it on for ten minutes and then use a toothbrush to lightly scrub the nail. Do this two or three times a day until the nail is healed.
  4. Baking Soda: baking soda is one of the cheapest remedies available and is easily accessible. It can also be used to treat toenail fungus and can help keep your feet from smelling. Just add 1/2 a cup of baking soda, 1/4 cup of 3% hydrogen peroxide and 1/2 cup of Epsom Salt to 4 cups of hot water. Mix the ingredients very well and then add a 1/4 cup of white vinegar to it. Soak your toenails in this mixture for about 10 minutes then wash your foot with clean water and dry it really well. Do this twice a day for 2-4 weeks.
  5. White Vinegar: white vinegar is a great way to heal toenail fungus because fights the infection and helps fix the skins acid level. Mix 1 part white vinegar with 2 parts warm water and soak the toenail in the mixture for 10-15 minutes. Rinse your foot off and dry really well. Do this twice a day until the fungus is gone. If using the white vinegar hurts your skin at this ratio, just add a little more water and soak your foot in it every other day instead of every day.
  6. Garlic: garlic has allicon and ajoene which can kill fungi and treat toenail fungus. Simply mix garlic oil with an equal amount of white vinegar and apply the mixture on and around the toenail and cover with a bandage. Leave it on for a few hours then remove the bandage. Do this every day until the toenail heals. If you do not have garlic oil you can make your own by frying two crushed garlic cloves in 2 tablespoons of olive oil and then strain the oil.
These healing methods can only work if you use them properly with diligence. Try doing these for one or two months before doing something else and effectively fight toenail fungus naturally.
