Eliminate Arterial Plaque Naturally
Sept. 14, 2017; By Briana McDonald, Staff Writer Silver Bulletin e-News Magazine (UtopiaSilver.com) Our arteries are blood vessels that are responsible for delivering oxygen-rich blood to all parts of our bodies. Because of this crucially important role that they play it is important that they remain unclogged. However, over-processed foods, fatty foods, and junk foods will clog the arteries over time. Cholesterol is a waxy substance and when it’s combined with fat, calcium, and other substances in the blood it will turn into plaque (which can be very stubborn to get rid of). As the plaque slowly starts to build up it will cause the arteries to harden and the blood vessels to become narrow. This build up of plaque also known as atherosclerosis can lead to heart disease, heart attack and stroke. The mainstream approach to treating arterial plaque is Lipitor, Crestor, or Beta Blockers. These medications are usually prescribed in conjunction with a healthy diet but there are known dangerous side effects to these medicines and each person will vary in reaction severity. After further research I’ve found that it is possible to prevent and eliminate arterial plaque naturally without the use of medicines by making lifestyle changes (which your doctor will make you do anyway) and adding in a few supplements that have zero negative side affects and will only further enhance your body’s immune system rather than weaken it.
- Asparagus – full of fiber and minerals along with a long list of vitamins which makes asparagus one of the best veggies for cleaning arteries! Asparagus also helps to lower blood pressure and prevent blood clots.
- Avocado– next time you make a sandwich or salad, skip the mayo or heavy dressing and use avocado instead. Studies have shown that daily consumption of avocado results in improved blood cholesterol with a decrease in triglycerides. (1.) The average avocado contains about 4 grams of protein and 11 grams of fiber not to mention an extensive list of vitamins and minerals.
- Broccoli – is loaded with vitamin K which helps prevent the hardening of the arteries and is also loaded with fiber which helps to normalize blood pressure and reduce stress which is known to cause tears in the arterial walls.
- Chia Seeds– chia seeds keep arteries clear by reducing blood pressure, reducing LDL cholesterol, lowers triglycerides, and increases HDL cholesterol, the “good” cholesterol.
- Cinnamon– a spoonful of cinnamon makes the risk of heart disease go down! (Marry Poppins voice) Just one tablespoon per day can reduce cholesterol levels and also clear and prevent plaque build-up. Cinnamon is also full of powerful antioxidants which helps to protect the blood from damaging oxidization.
- Coconut Oil – 2-3 tablespoons of coconut oil a day can help reduce plaque build up in the arteries by aiding the conversion of cholesterol in the blood stream into a form that our bodies can use. The high concentration of lauric acid present in coconut oil is thought to improve blood coagulation as well as perform anti oxidation in the bloodstream which further diminishes the risks of heart disease.
- Coffee– to all you coffee lovers out there, this is your win! Studies have found that drinking 8 to 16 ounces of organic coffee per day can reduce your risk of heart disease around 20%! (2.) This doesn’t mean go crazy on the coffee peeps, all things in moderation of course!
- Cranberries– cranberries are an antioxidant-rich food that can help improve cardiovascular health by reducing LDL and raising HDL cholesterol levels. Enjoy 2 servings of 100% pure organic cranberry juice per day to reep all of it’s powerful artery cleansing benefits.
- Cold Water Fish- rich in healthy fats, cold water fish like salmon, mackerel, sardines, and tuna can help to clear arteries. Try to have at least 2 servings per week to reduce plaque build up and inflammation that can lead to heart disease.
- Flax Seeds– flax seeds are known for their super power ability to reduce blood pressure and inflammation, helping to keep arteries clean and clear and improve overall heart health.
- Green Tea– green tea, especially nutrient dense Matcha Green Tea is rich antioxidants which hinder the absorption of cholesterol during digestion. A cup or two a day will improve blood lipid levels and reduce arterial blockage. Green tea also helps to boost the metabolism which can help with weight loss.
- Nuts– a much better alternative snack to packaged and over processed foods, nuts are rich in healthy fats, vitamin E, and protein. They help to decrease blood pressure, reduce inflammation, and keep our arteries clear and beautiful.
- Olive Oil– rich in essential fatty acids, olive oil reduces the risk of heart disease and plaque build up by a whopping 41%! (3) Be sure to go with a 100% certified organic olive oil as cheaper olive oils are cut with cheaper, less healthy oils and have been damaged during the extraction process.
- Orange Juice– I’m talking fresh OJ here people, not the kind you buy from HEB. Fresh, organic orange juice with no sugar added to it at all is the best way to go for arterial health as it’s known to reduce blood pressure and inflammation. It’s powerful antioxidants also help keep our blood healthiest and protects it from free radial damage.
- Persimmon– loaded with antioxidants and polyphenols, both of which work to decrease LDL and triglycerides in the bloodstream. They are also a great source of fiber which helps to keep down blood pressure and inflammation which keeps your arteries free and clear of blockages. (starting to see a pattern here?)
- Pomegranate- antioxidant phytochemicals present in pomegranates help protect the circulatory system from oxidative damage which can cause plaque build up and dangerous blood clots.
- Spinach– spinach is loaded with fiber, potassium and folate; all of which help to lower blood pressure and keep blood vessels clear. Just one serving a day can lower homocysteine levels –a known risk factor in cardiovascular diseases. Try adding a handful to a daily smoothie or adding a handful to your sandwich at lunch.
- Spirulina– is a blue-green algae which helps regulate lipid levels in the blood and is also a complete protein. Unlike other plant sources of protein, Spirulina contains all of the essential amino acids needed by the human body to maintain proper health.
- Tumeric– curcumin is the main component of tumeric which can reduce inflammation and damage to arterial walls. Studies have shown that high levels of curcumin can aid in the reduction of fatty deposits in the arteries by 26%! (4)
- Watermelon– watermelon naturally stimulates production of nitric oxide which helps improve arterial health and blood pressure while also greatly reducing inflammation in the body.
- Enzymes are extremely sensitive to their environment. Heat and chemicals can denature an enzyme, or destroy its ability to unlock nutrients. Because of heavy processing, pasteurized and packaged foods often lack active enzymes. This means that the body must work harder than ever to break down and synthesize these foods.Over the years, the body slowly but surely loses its ability to produce enzymes and major drops occur roughly every ten years. At first, such drops may not be that apparent, but as time goes by we ultimately begin to discover that we cannot tolerate or enjoy certain foods like we once did. We may also notice a reduction in stamina, and most likely what that means is that we are running low on enzymes. When digestive enzymes are taken on an empty stomach they enter the bloodstream intact, and when they circulate they remove toxins and break down fats responsible for plaque formation. (5)
- Serrapeptase – is a potent digestive enzyme that works to dissolve arterial fat deposits. It has an incredible ability to dissolve non living tissue without harming living tissue. This non living tissue includes scar tissue, fibrosis, blood clots, cysts, and arterial plaque.
- CoQ10– helps to strengthen the veins and diminish arterial plaque. Results from a 10 year study showed that people who took 100mg of CoQ10 three times daily were significantly less likely to die from heart failure, less than half as likely to die from any health cause at all, and half as likely to have a major adverse cardiac event during the study period compared to the control group. (6)
- Vitamin C– You need vitamin C for the growth and repair of tissues in all parts of your body. It helps the body make collagen, an important protein used to make skin, cartilage, tendons, ligaments, and blood vessels. It is an essential nutrient in healing the endothelial layer of cells inside coronary and carotid arteries.
- Vitamin K2– vitamin k helps to prevent the calcification, or hardening of the arteries. Vitamin K helps to put calcium in the right places such as the bones and the blood instead of becoming calcified in the blood vessels, bone spurs, and soft tissues.
- Niacin– niacin is known to raise HDL “good cholesterol” levels and lower LDL levels in the bloodstream. Niacin is the best agent to remove cholesterol deposits from the artery walls.
