by Briana McDonald (UtopiaSilver.com) Anti aging with aloe vera has been the safer, cheaper, and most natural approach to beauty since the dawn of time. Yet beauty isles in every department store across the nation are flooded with products promising anti aging benefits, but do you really know what’s in them? Do they really work? Or are they actually making the aging process speed up? Did you know you’re probably paying for more wrinkles? Most of the chemicals listed in the ingredients actually accelerate aging and damage the skin, stripping it of its natural oils and vitamins. What if I told you that your greatest weapon for the war on aging can be grown on your front porch? The “Queen B” of the anti aging world is Aloe Vera, and it’s not just hearsay, science actually backs this.
We’ve all known that Aloe Vera is great for treating sun-burns, but its benefits go much further than skin deep. In fact, it works all the way down to the DNA level by decreasing the gene activity that causes collagen to become damaged in the first place.
In a 2009 study, published in the Annals of Dermatology, researchers found that just 1200mg/d (1/4 tsp!!!) of pure Aloe Vera Gel can significantly reverse signs of skin aging in just 90 days! The study included 30 women over the age of 45 who received 2 different oral doses (low dose – 1200 mg/d, high dose- 3600 mg/d) of pure Aloe Vera Gel supplementation for 90 days and the results were remarkable. Groups, high dose and low dose saw dramatic results with facial elasticity, and the high dose group facial wrinkles were significantly reduced.
“They found that drinking aloe gel increased production of collagen, the basic structural component of the skin.” 1. The more collagen your skin produces, the less wrinkles and sagging skin you will have.
Aside from being great for your skin, Aloe Vera also does wonders for your internal organs as well. “The gel moves through your intestinal tract and picks up toxins along the way as it drags them out through your colon”. 1
It’s What’s inside That Counts
Aloe Vera is a rich source of vitamins A, B, C, and E that nourishes the skin and prevents the skin from aging by providing essential strength to the skin tissues. It can be easily absorbed and effectively repairs damaged skin and also contains polysaccharides such as acemannon and other chemical compounds which stimulates the skin cells regeneration. The precious leaf is 96% water and has 200 healing phytonutrients, choline, niacinamide and another 18 amino acids that clear many skin issues.
How to Use It
If you have the gel, here is what you do:
- Take a small amount (a little goes a long way) of freshly harvested Aloe Gel and massage it into your skin in a circular motion for 2-3 minutes. It’s recommended that you do this before sleep to help release toxins, tone facial skin and infuse it with all of the plants wonderful healing properties.
- You can mix 1 tsp of aloe gel and one Vitamin E capsule and apply to areas where wrinkles are forming. It is one of nature’s most amazing eye creams!
- Add a teaspoon or two to your daily smoothie, preferably in the morning to promote collagen production and prevent collagen breakdown.
Homemade Aloe Vera Scrub
Now that you know more about anti aging with Aloe Vera it’s time to put that knowledge into action! Here is a yummy scrub you can try at home:
“Regular exfoliation can help the skin with cell turnover and increase the production of collagen.
If you add Aloe to the mixture you’ll double the effect.
- 1 tablespoon of Aloe Gel
• 1 tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil
• ¼ cup of brown sugar
Mix the ingredients together and massage it gently on your face in a circular motion. Do this for about 3-5 minutes then rinse off with lukewarm water. Pat dry after.
The brown sugar will exfoliate the dead skin and allow the oil and Aloe’s healing nutrients to penetrate your skin.
You can do this up to 3 times a week.
Enjoy your renewed and glowing complexion.” 1.
