The Amazing Power of Garlic Could Save Your Life

Not only is it flavorful and aromatic, it is chock full of life saving compounds. Why do I say this? Research is showing us it’s not only safe and delicious, but the amazing power of garlic could save your life. The National Library of Medicine contains over 5500 study abstracts on garlic alone (1)! This literature shows us that garlic plays a huge role in preventing and treating over 150 health conditions ranging from cancer to diabetes, infection to plaque buildup in the arteries, DNA damage to mercury poisoning. It may not give you the best breath, but eating more garlic has a significant impact on our health (the pros definitely outweigh the only con!) Eating more garlic has been shown to help prevent heart disease, stroke, cancer and infections. Even the National Cancer Institute recognizes garlic as one of the vegetables that contains potential anticancer properties.
Garlic and Your Heart 
Consuming garlic helps to:

Garlic Helps Lower Blood Pressure
A study looked at the effect of garlic extracts as a treatment for people who were already taking medication to treat high blood pressure, but were still having uncontrolled hypertension. Garlic showed to be highly effective and was found that simply taking 4 capsules of aged garlic extract (960mg ) daily for three months caused blood pressure to drop by an average of 10 point!. (20) The study also confirmed the polysulfides in garlic help to open or widen the blood vessels and resulted in blood pressure reduction.
Also as a fun fact, garlic has only 4 calores, .2g of protein, 1 g of carbs and 1g of fiber. It also contains manganese, vitamin c, calcium and selenium — as if it wasn’t good enough already!!
