Endometriosis is a disease in which cells that look and act like the cells that line the uterus (endometrial cells) are found in other locations in the body, usually in the pelvis. These cells can attach to the ovaries or fallopian tubes; the outer surface of the uterus, the bowels, or other abdominal organs; or, rarely, to other organs and structures in the body. The places where the cells attach are called implants, or lesions.
Endometrial cells that are found outside the uterus respond to hormones released during the menstrual cycle in the same way as endometrial cells that are located in the uterus. 1 At the beginning of the normal menstrual cycle, when the lining of the uterus is shed and menstrual bleeding begins, the sites of these abnormally located cells (implants) may swell and bleed.
The body responds to the swelling and bleeding by surrounding the cells with scar tissue. During the menstrual cycle, this scar tissue may become red, swollen, and painful. As the scar tissue increases, it can form adhesions that cover and bind the abdominal organs. Adhesions can interfere with an organ's normal function.
Symptoms of Endometriosis
Endometriosis is an ongoing (chronic) and usually progressive disease. The rate of progression varies widely from woman to woman. Infertility or pain may be the only symptoms. Pain from endometriosis may start as mild discomfort a few days before the menstrual period or be unrelated to the menstrual cycle.
Symptoms may remain stable, decrease without treatment, or suddenly increase. Symptoms may resolve with treatment and then return later. Often symptoms decrease during pregnancy, and they usually disappear after menopause.
Causes of Endometriosis
The exact cause of endometriosis is not known. Endometrial cells may be carried up through the uterus into the pelvis during menstruation or they may travel to other parts of the body in the circulatory system.
Diagnosis of endometriosis starts with a history of your symptoms and menstrual periods and a routine pelvic exam.
Additional exams and tests will be needed if symptoms are severe, treatment is being considered, or other conditions are suspected. Other tests may include:
Computed tomography (CT) scan.
Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).
How is endometriosis treated?
Endometriosis is more difficult to treat when it is causing moderate to severe pain or infertility. Treatment may vary depending on whether you are treating pain or infertility. You may need to try several different treatments to find one that works best for you. Treatment may include medications to shrink the implants, laparoscopy to destroy implants, or surgery to remove the uterus and ovaries.
Endometriosis that causes only mild symptoms usually does not require medical treatment. Home treatment, such as taking a nonprescription pain medication or using a heating pad, may be all that is needed. When severe pain or infertility are present, treatment options include medications and surgery.
Our son has Crohn's . The only thing that let him live a normal life was a steroid. You can't stay on them forever. He ended up with Pancreatitis from them, They then put him on asacol and imordal . They helped some. Someone suggested he try colloidal silver. In less than a month he was off all Medicines. He takes the silver 2 to 3 times a day and it controls the pains. He now lives a normal life. If the pains start up he just takes an extra dose of silver. His Dr. sees him every 6 months. He has been on the silver 7 months. It also has helped us with colds and sore throats. I also know of a young girl in her 20's that has endometriosis and finds the silver helps with the pain.
I ordered a three bottle set of the silver this fall. I didn't take it daily it was hard to start a new routine. But right before Christmas I gave a bottle to my landlord. All of his life he has had cracked and bleeding feet. When he was a kid he had to wear bread bags inside of his socks so his socks and shoes wouldn't get bloody. Well, he's had a deep crack on the side of one foot forever and he was putting bag balm on it. After a couple weeks he developed a 3" circular rash over that ankle and his crack was still there. His skin was flaking off where the rash was. I put the silver on some gauze bandages and taped them to the rash and told him to redo it 3 times a day. Then I soaked some gauze with the silver and put it on and squeezed it in the crack in his foot and told him to do that 3 times a day. Well, he went up north and I didn't see him for a day and a half and I don't know how often he put the silver on it but the first thing I did when I saw him was ask to see his foot. In a day and a half the rash was more than 50% cleared up and the crack in his foot was closed and very much healed. You would never know it was 1/4" deep. The other day he said everything was healed.
Since that episode I am taking my tablespoon a day with a glass of water. I have asthma and had a hysterectomy because of severe endometriosis. While on Christmas break the pain I had from the endometriosis felt like it was returning. They couldn't remove 100% of it during surgery. So I hope to have another testimony soon on these 2 issues.
Thank you so much.
